Building Zone

Saturday was a dreary and cold day, so we went downtown to the National Building Museum to run around in the big open space and play in the Building Zone. Mommy also checked out the bookstore for school. Nickolas had quite a thrilling time in the Building Zone building with giant -- we mean giant -- Legos, running in and out of the play house, and hammering anything that required hammering. Mommy's hoping that if she takes Nickolas there often enough, perhaps some day he'll become an architect.

Star Wars

Nickolas got a cool Star Wars t-shirt from Uncle David for Christmas that he wore the other day and looked like such a big boy wearing it. Aimee kept singing the Star Wars song by Nick the Lounge Singer, a character from Saturday Night Live from long ago. I believe he was Nick Winters for that particular skit -- very funny.

Happy 2nd Birthday to Nickolas!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear precious boy, happy birthday to you.
Nickolas started the day with a little photo session at Kiddie Kandids for his 2 year portrait, came home to find a lovely little gift at our door from our neighbor Lisa, took a long nap, and then walked with mommy to pick out a birthday cake. Afterwards, we opened up presents and had cake and played with all of the new birthday swag. Nickolas received two different types of school buses (he LOVES buses), a farm, clothes, and some books. He was quite pleased with his special day.

Walking back with a new Thomas the Train balloon.

Table and Chairs for the Monkey

Nickolas was quite excited when he came home today to see a new Nickolas-sized table and chair set just for him. We may have to do some rearranging or move it to his room, since it's all too tempting to stand ON TOP of the table and climb rather than sit on the chair AT the table. Someday, we'll learn, but in the mean time, he sure is a climber.

Stroll in the Park

We had a nice warm day on Sunday, so after Nickolas took a marathon nap, we took a walk to the neighborhood park before having dinner with friends. Nickolas met another two-year-old boy and decided to take a stroll around the perimeter of the baseball diamond. The taste of spring must have peaked a bug for the upcoming Brewers season -- at least, that's Aimee's best guess. Also of note, Nickolas's skills on the slide have greatly improved since last fall -- he stays upright nicely on the big slides, so the core upper body workout regime Dan had him on over the winter must have worked (kidding).
Swinging.
Running around the home run fence.
Hmmm, wide, horizontal stripes might not be the smartest right now...

Neat and Trim

Nickolas started the day out a little shaggy and caked with blackberries.

So, he went for a haircut later in the day.

And came home "full of beans" with a new 'do.

Play Date at Greta's (Tata's)

Tata -- how Nickolas says "Greta." Nickolas had a fun play date today at Greta's and met her new little brother, Henry, who is now 2 months old. There's only about 18 months between Greta and Henry and they seem to be getting along beautifully, which is hopefully a glimpse of what will come for Nickolas and his little sister. They had fun eating, chasing each other on the stairs, going down the slide, watching "Barney", and being silly -- all while mommy scored going through Greta's hand-me-downs with Leah. Thank you, Greta!

The Fruit of Mommy's Cravings

Getting big at nearly 34 weeks (7 and 1/2 months) with Nickolas's little sister! She's the perfect little ball.

Cravings

Can you tell what mommy's pregnancy cravings are? They make great building blocks. Two 1 pound 8 ounce boxes are almost as tall as me!
