Christmas Decorations

A Lucy-proof tabletop Christmas tree with snow flakes and two different kinds of white lights.

Mother Mary, a Nativity, and an angel playing the cello.

Taken with flash so ornaments appear. Kept it simple with just snowflakes.

All lit up. It really shines through window when looking from the outside.

First Snow (and likely last) and Other Fun

We got about and inch or so of slushy snow over the weekend, which looked quite pretty coming down. Other areas west of the city got several inches more, so when we took a drive, Nickolas pointed out several snowmen.

I belive it was this snowball that ended up down and inside mommy's shirt. Burr. It managed to splat into the camera and all over mommy's glasses. That was one dense slush ball.

Lucy is really enjoying food that she can pick up and feed herself. This delacacy was beefy cheesy macaroni.
Lucy is really crawling around the house now and standing up to everything -- including her brother.

Living the High Life

We visited Uncle Brian in Georgetown today at the fancy five-star Four Seasons hotel. We played in his room for a while before he went to work for the Milwaukee Bucks game telecast. Nickolas was all set to meet some of the tall players, however, they opted to meet the President instead. Regardless, we enjoyed the holiday decorations (turns out the hotel put up their trees the same night we did) and had fun in the very purple and stylish room.

How do my eyes look against the purple?

Watching firetruck videos.

Concierge, what can you do about getting more channels with firetrucks on them?

Kentucky Part 1 - Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a lovely and relaxing time in Kentucky for Thanksgiving with Nana and Big Daddy, as Nickolas calls his grandparents. Thanksgiving dinner was a success with pie and all of the fixings. We all enjoyed the fresh air and wide open spaces. Lucy was quite fond of her grandfather and often couldn't keep her eyes off of him.

The feast begins.

Corn, white and sweet potatoes, turkey, excellent gravy, meat stuffing, cornbread stuffing, brussel sprouts, and cranberry sauce.

PIE!

Hi big daddy

Who is this handsome man?

Big Daddy with Lucy, Grant, and Nickolas

Thank God I'm a country boy (wearing big daddy's hat).

Four wheeling.

With Frankie.

Get the flies!

Kentucky Part 2 - Cooking Lesson

Big Daddy Manoo gave the boys a cooking lesson on how to make a Persian dish with grilled ground beef, spices, onion, and tomatoes. We even got waited on once the cooking was complete. We are looking forward to Dan re-creating the delicious dish.

Kentucky Part 3 - Uncle David and Silliness

Nickolas and Lucy were entertained by their Uncle David quite a few times. Nickolas enjoyed climbing on him, swatting flies, and just overall silliness.

Lucy's Crawling!

Lucy is getting mobile -- flipping over during diaper changes, standing, creeping, and crawling.

Our little inch worm.

Nickolas's Jam Session

Nickolas loves to pull from the bathroom the toilet paper roll holder to sing into it like a microphone. We have no idea where he would have seen anything like that to do -- it's as if he's an Aerosmith fan. Sometimes, he uses the trash can or the toilet seat as a drum set. This time, we had the privilege to have all of the items dragged out to the kitchen for a special performance. You can see his number 1 fan watching on.

Reston Zoo

We went out to enjoy one of the last few warm and sunny days outside at the Reston Zoo after a solid week of rain. We saw zebras, camels, kangaroos (roos), an owl that flew right at our heads (but was luckily behind cage bars), a turkey (that truly said 'gobble gobble'), ostriches, emus, spider monkeys, goats and sheep, among others. More exciting, Nickolas went on a donkey ride and thought it was pretty cool.
Nickolas and Greta being silly.
