A Little Bit of American Olympic History

Nickolas has always had a thing for the hockey players that play defense.  On New Years Day, the final American Men's Olympic hockey team was announced that included one Washington Capital.  Apparently, it was the first time a Capital made the team (since there are few Americans on the team).  John Carlson did a little impromptu media event outside of the White House, so of course we had to go to wish him luck in the Olympics.  Nickolas ended up being a hit with the local media after he gave a clever response as to why he was a fan of Mr. Carlson, "He shoots from the blue line!"

New Years Eve/Grandma's Birthday

A little bubbly to ring in new year.

The girls skipped out to the art museum during the day.

Christmas

Can't wait to dig in.

Uncle Brian arrived Christmas night.

Then Grandma and Grandpa arrived the next day.

Goal light on Grandpa's head.

Then Nickolas got sad when Uncle Brian had to leave.

Lucy "The Mouse" Nutcracker on Ice

On Christmas Eve morning, Lucy made her debut as a mouse at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Rink Nutcracker on Ice.  She did fantastic job under a clear blue sky.  The battle scene music during the battle between the mice and the soldiers was a little scary at first, but luckily she heard it during the warm up prior to the real performance.  Sh received flowers and a special gift from a fellow secret Santa.  And, a photographer captured her perfectly for the Georgetowner online paper.  It made for a lovely Christmas Eve day despite a few of us battle a stomach bug (especially Nickolas).
