Official Baptism Portraits

Lucy's baptismal dress is a very special one. It was made with material from Lucy's great-grandmother Felicia's wedding dress worn in 1947. Grandma Julie discovered the dress a year ago and surprised Aimee and Dan with the dress for Christmas. Lucy looked like a little angel in it for her baptism on September 27th.

Lucy's Baptism in Washington DC

Lucy was baptised in Annunciation Catholic Church in NW Washington DC on September 27, 2009 by Monsignor Lockman. Her Godparents are Sue and Wayne. Lucy's grandparents and nana came all the way from Kentucky and Wisconsin to witness her new life in the Catholic church as well as friends, grandpa's cousin Julie and grandma's sister. Nickolas felt compelled to also participate and the Monsignor was happy to have him help by letting him blow out Lucy's baptism candle. It was a lovely ceremony and Lucy is blessed to have such wonderful Godparents.

Highchair and Food

Lucy's shipment of baby food arrived today -- both fruits and vegetables. It made for an opportune time to wheel out the highchair and introduce it to her. It was much more comfortable than the Bumpo chair she had been using for her cereal. She loved the carrots -- all 2.5 ounces of it -- and didn't even make a face. She still seemed hungry, so she continued with half a jar of bananas.

Portraits

We went to trusty old Sears today to get Lucy's 6 month portraits, one with her big brother, and some wearing her beautiful baptismal gown. Nickolas wasn't wild about being still for the camera, especially once his friend Greta arrived for her photo session. You'll have to wait for the baptismal gown ones until she makes her Catholic debut at the end of this month. In the meantime, here are the sibling pictures from today's photo shoot.

and, you can't forget Nickolas's bear (his baby).

Lucy is 6 Months Old!

Today is Lucy's 6 month birthday. She spent part of it today at the pediatrician for her 6-month check-up and received a few shots. In short, she is growing and thriving! Lucy weighs 16 pounds 7 ounces, which puts her in the 60th percentile. She's 26 and 1/2 inches tall, putting her in the 70th for height (and grew 2 1/2 inches in 2 months!), and is in the 85th percentile in head size at 17 3/8 inches in circumference. All on breast milk and a daily bowl of rice and multi-grain cereal! She's also sitting up really well, but isn't wild about rolling over yet since she doesn't care to be on her tummy. Her favorite thing is to watch her big brother Nickolas run circles and play around her. He sure makes her (and all of us) laugh.

Baseball Star

Daddy got Nickolas a baseball bat and balls. After only 5 minutes or so, Nickolas was hitting them out of the park! Ok, backyard deck, but we were quite impressed with the contact.

New Double Stroller

... is working like a charm! Both kids fell asleep during a late morning walk. Guess that's what happens when Nickolas wakes daddy up at 5:30am!
