Mommy's Best Friend

I have two mommies this weekend. Mommy's friend from highschool, Marla, came into town from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I got to meet her for the first time. I can't wait to visit her some day in the 'Boat, learn to ski, and play with their new wee one. I'm sure mommy can't wait, either, since her she hasn't been there since before I was born, which is a long, long time to ago. We're having a lot of fun eating, going to the park, taking walks, and playing with her camera. I get a kick seeing myself on the tiny screen of the camera - I'm so cute!

Big Boy

Look how big I am - climbing onto the chair and sitting on the bed without trying to fly off it. It's not as fun as it used to be now that I'm understanding the laws of gravity better.

Multi Tasking

Daddy came back - then left again to work his magic in Minnesota. Luckily, Aimee's best friend Marla will be coming in from Colorado for a visit to break up the time daddy's away. After daddy left, Nickolas took it upon himself to be the "man of the house" as daddy told him to be. Here, in this short clip, you can see Nickolas today acting like his daddy with not one, but two phones. He's really enjoying 'playing telephone' with the remote, our blackberries, or the cordless. He even stops to 'listen' and raises his eye brows. It's quite funny.

Daddy's Back!

My daddy just returned from an adventurous trip to the Grand Canyon filled with storms, floods, rapid waters, extreme hikes, a broken shoe, and battle wounds all over his legs. Each one appears to have a story. I think he had fun. Daddy's camera didn't make it through the trip, so I haven't seen any pictures yet except for the nice one daddy's friend Tom sent (below). I look forward to seeing more.

I like Daddy's hat -- I look better in it.

I'm 18 Months Old!

Nickolas turned 18 months old today. Last week, he had his check-up and had one shot, which he did very well for. He now weighs 22 pounds 10 ounces, which puts him at the 15th percentile. He grew to 31 1/2 inches, which puts him at the 25th and his head still measures in at the 70th percentile.

Day in the Park

Since daddy is floating down the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, Nickolas and Aimee had to make their own fun. The weather here has been perfect now for a few weeks - 80s and low humidity unlike the typical muggy 90-100s for August. Today we ventured out and walked into a neighborhood in Alexandria that has its own little park. We were gone for over three hours (yes, Nickolas was wearing sunblock) and at 5:30pm, Nickolas is still down for a nap. The residents of the neighborhood keep extra toys out for the kids to play with including little cars, sand toys, tricycles, wagons. There was so much to do, Nickolas, at first, didn't know where to begin. Perhaps we should move to that neighborhood. Those kids know how to have fun.

Where to go first?

In the driver's seat.

Hanging from the driver's seat: "Look mom, no feet!"

Playing in the soft sand. There were two jungle gyms, as well, but there was so much fun to be had.

Pizza Party with Teddy

Nickolas enjoys a new kind of food -- pizza. He insisted on not eating alone and brought his bear up with him in the high chair. His bear does go everywhere with him, but this was a first.

New Chair

Nickolas has been having fun with his Nana while Aimee starts her Masters program for a two-week summer session. Aimee missed Nickolas terribly the first week, so luckily, it is possible to commute the 120-mile round trip trek for the second week. Below are a few pictures taken of Nickolas enjoying his new chair. Since he's been climbing onto the recliner, we felt it was time for his very own Nickolas-sized chair. He particularly likes to jump on it and flip it over for more jumping. Who knew a chair could be so fun?
