Sibling Love

Smile?

It's likely gas, twitches, or sweet dreams -- in any case, here's Lucy smiling.

Don't Toucha the Mango

Nickolas recently showed us his love for mango to add to the extensive list of fruit that he enjoys to eat. Ironically, while Nana Jean and mommy were eating cupcakes, Nickolas was being the good boy eating his mango.

Going Home

After a surprisingly pleasant hospital stay, Lucy and Aimee came home on Wednesday.
Pretty in Pink
An extremely sleep-deprived daddy.
Getting wheeled-out.
All buckled up.
Our little peanut in her bed at home.

Nickolas Meets His Sister Lucy

We were so blessed to have Nickolas is such loving and good hands with Aimee's relatives in Virginia during the 4-day hospital stay. He had a big yard to play in, a kitty cat to chase, and a great-uncle who I imagine gave him lots of ice cream. He saw horses, road on a train at the mall, and played with the neighbor kids. Thank you so very much for allowing us to not have to worry about a thing. Nickolas had the time of his life!

When Sue brought Nickolas to the hospital, as he walked into the room, he had a little vase with a pale pink rose and lilac that he handed to his mommy. It was the sweetest thing. Nickolas had all sorts of fun in the hospital room pressing buttons, eating fruit, and checking out his sister. He had no interest in coming up onto the bed since there were too many things to explore. He seemed to like the bebe, showed her his truck, and eventually left with Sue to go back to the fun house.
My first scooter ride!

We need to come back and do this again!

Hi Lucy, I'm your big brother Nickolas.

What's in here? Apparently I used to sleep in one of these when I was born.
Thanks for taking me to meet Lucy. Time to go.

Introducing Lucy Grace, Born on the 8th

Nickolas welcomed his little sister, Lucy, who was born at 4:56 am on Sunday, March 8 after 15 hours of labor and ultimately via c-section. Lucy entered the outside world weighing 5 pounds 9 ounces and measuring just under 19 inches. She has a head full of long, dark, thick, and nicely styled hair. Lucy has the prettiest little eyebrows with the slightest pointed arch, long elegant fingers, and tiny feet. Overall, she has the daintiest of features with a beautiful jaw line and tiny mouth. Initially, she came out looking almost identical to her big brother Nickolas and you can certainly tell they are brother and sister. He seems to be enjoying his little sister. He doesn't call her Lucy just yet, but he does call her 'baby' that sounds more like 'bebe'. We can already tell Nickolas is going to be an amazing big brother.

SNOW!

The DC area got a little bit of snow over night causing for local schools to be closed. We got a whopping 4, maybe 5, inches while other areas got as much as a foot. Dan and Nickolas were kind to come outside for a little walk. Although quite windy, Nickolas had fun stomping around in his boots and daddy showed him the finer techniques of making a snow ball.

Aimee was grateful for any amount. Apparently, the last measurable amount close to this was back in February 2006 -- when Aimee was in Colorado and before that, February of 2003 when Aimee was in Whistler, Canada where with her luck there was not a great deal of snow for skiing since it was all east. No ski trips this winter being 8 and 1/2 months pregnant at this point, so patience was key and the snow came -- finally.

Building Zone

Saturday was a dreary and cold day, so we went downtown to the National Building Museum to run around in the big open space and play in the Building Zone. Mommy also checked out the bookstore for school. Nickolas had quite a thrilling time in the Building Zone building with giant -- we mean giant -- Legos, running in and out of the play house, and hammering anything that required hammering. Mommy's hoping that if she takes Nickolas there often enough, perhaps some day he'll become an architect.
