Flora Meets Her Siblings

Sue and Wayne brought Nickolas and Lucy to the hospital to meet their new baby sister, Flora. Nickolas was extremely proud telling everyone that he has two baby sisters. He couldn't wait to hold her. Lucy was a little sad and perhaps missing mommy, so she cuddled on the bed for a little while. While Flora was in the bassinet, both Nickolas and Lucy gave their prized "babies" to her. Eventually, Nickolas held Flora and was a natural while Lucy became fascinated with "baby".

Leaving the hospital

WELCOME FLORA SUSAN!

Wee Flora Susan arrived on November 28 to our surprise ahead of her scheduled December 3 delivery. Labor began around 1:00am, water broke around 3:00am, and cousin Sue came to the rescue around 4:00am to begin caring for Nickolas and Lucy for the next several days. Flora was born at 8:03am weighing 5 lbs 8 ozs and measuring 18 inches - a true wee one. She's been a great baby and all of the nurses loved her in the hospital. She was also born, like Nickolas and Lucy, with a classic head of hair.

Flora Susan is named for the many Floras on Dan's Scottish side of the family. Aunt Flora in Dunoon Scotland and Cousin wee Flora in South Africa are the loveliest of them. Flora is also the name of Dan's grandmother and great-grandmother. Dan is the first (and possibly the last) to name a Flora in this generation. Susan, is Aimee's cousin and Lucy's Godmother who Nickolas and Lucy affectionately call Aunt Sue.

Being Sporty

Lucy, pretty in pink with her Milwaukee Brewers jogging suit given to her by Grandpa. It was quite the comfy ensemble for Kindermusik and a play date that day despite her pants falling down once. Also below is Nickolas with his game face on prior to his basketball class wearing his Kentucky blue from his Dan's brother, Uncle David.

Living Room Football

Kids playing football. Nickolas is actually very gentle with his little sister. They take turns taking each other down. Just so happens Lucy's tackle was captured first.

Leaves

Nickolas and Lucy now have their very own rake and broom that's just their size. They've been having fun "cleaning" the backyard. And, of course, playing on the slide, too.

First Concert

The Wiggles! Live! Patriot Center! Sunday, November 7! 2:00pm!

A good time was had by Nickolas, Lucy, daddy, and mommy. Nickolas used his baby (bear) as a guitar and danced quite a bit. Lucy was captivated by the show from daddy's lap but leaped up for the "Hot Potato" song, and then for Nickolas's popcorn.

Halloween

Halloween was Lucy's turn to be sick. Poor thing woke up from her nap with a fever and lots of congestion. We put on her pretty Cupcake Fairy outfit to see if she'd have fun all dressed up. She liked her cupcake wand at first, but not the floating cupcake headband and called it a day. Nickolas was a very brave fire fighter and had fun trick-o-treating in the evening. One house had a smoke machine - good thing Fire Fighter Nickolas was there to contain the scene.

Saturday Morning

We're all sick with colds and stuff, so it was a good weekend for being in pjs in bed with lots of hot chocolate and orange juice. I think we're on the upswing now - at least, let's hope.

Cox Farms Fall Festival

We had a perfect Fall day at Cox Farms with Sue and Wayne. Since mommy is getting plump with wee one number 3, she got to sit back, relax, and watch the fun while the kids actually got to do all of the fun slides, hay ride, chase animals, etc. Nickolas and Lucy are obsessed with pumpkins and scored two huge ones along with three small ones to add to their collection. We had pizza, kettle corn, apple cider, and overall fun. This is the third year in a row we've made it to Cox Farms. We did something new this year with Goat Village and there's still more to do. Next year!

Fun in the hay.

This one says it all. Nickolas had this look for all three times down this particular slide.

Misc, Swimming

Nickolas has been taking Pre-Fin swim classes on Wednesday evenings and is enjoying them. He has a very nice instructor and is learning the finer techniques to kicking and paddling. He's still a bit reluctant to going under water and getting his face wet.

Here's Lucy modeling her jacket from Grandma.

And one last pic from on top of the Newseum with Uncle Brian.
